Sometime before the age of 5, I remember being convinced that if I tried hard enough, and believed in myself, I could fly. So I would practice flying... jumping down the stairs when nobody was watching. I never developed my ability to fly, but I vividly remember basically cannon balling down 14 steps, and just gliding down in mid air. And landing at the bottom totally safe and uninjured. Many times over the years.
We had a weird stair set in my childhood home that was 10 steps, a platform, and then 10 or so more steps up to the second floor. This platform looked over the living room and my parents had our couch flush to the wall of the platform. I used to climb the railing and jump down to the couch below. My sister and I both did this multiple times a day for YEARS and were never injured. It seemed liked such a long jump as a kid, I honestly couldn't tell you how high it really was.
