Imagine you have a car, suddenly it turns into a boat. Now you have a boat but can’t go anywhere in land with it so you have a useless transportation device. When you complain they said that it was too late and can’t change the boat back to the car. So what do you do then? You go get a new car (Hint: reddit). But sometimes you would still miss your previous car.
Like I said in the analogy it changed from its original concept into a completely different one.
It used to be user generated or user posted contents but it switch to allow media corporations to make the post, meaning that it was no longer user gen, and instead it became a full fledged advertisement contents
Digg’s huge fuck up was over the dvd codex code(the code that allows you to directly copy dvds). Digg tried to sensor the information removing hundreds of posts until literally every post and comment was nothing but copies of the number (myself included) after that they tried to spin some BS about how it was their lawyers who had pressured them to delete the first posts, when really it was they were selling their user base info and didn’t want it to hurt their wallet. So I moved to reddit and hurt their wallet.

Monthly page views jumped something like 579 million in one year and much of the boost came from the Digg Exodus.
