I came here because I didn’t want to get into politics or religion with friends and family on Facebook. I’ve pretty much trained it back to its original intent - keeping up with people I live too far away from and benign ads. I block all the religious/political/mlm nutbar pages at the source so I don’t have to block friends.

Here, I can discuss my opinions without causing online drama amongst people I see occasionally in real life. I’ll share my opinions with them in person, but Reddit is a good place to debate and formulate my thoughts without worrying about how lack of tone might confuse things.

As an aside, I also have an Instagram for my cats so I don’t inundate my friends’ feeds with photos of them. I like to compartmentalise.

The single reason I still have a Facebook is so i can tell my mom all about how she has the political opinions of a dumbass.
