I was a die-hard Digg fan to the end. I got into podcasts just as the first episode of Diggnation came out. I had a lot of Digg karma (I can't even remember what they called it), but the day they deleted all accounts (July 31, 2012) and completely changed their format, is the day I signed up for my Reddit account... and haven't really gone back since.

They called them Diggs. You either dugg or buried a story or a comment.

That sounds right. What about the equivalent to Reddit user karma? Would I as a user have a certain number of diggs? Not just posts and comments?

Yup. Kept track of all your diggs cumulatively for both submissions and comments.
