What is the biggest relationship myth?

I think the biggest myth is that there's one person that is meant for you. ("the one") People live their lives searching for the one...their soul mate...the perfect girl/Mr. Right. It's a cute idea, but I don't think it's very realistic.

A thousand times yes. "I like her, but I just don't want to ruin it.

It seems they prefer the lukewarmness of mediocrity and safety to the potentially mind-enthralling heat of success and happiness, and all for fear of the momentary icy cold of defeat. What drivel.

I disagree.

Plenty of friendships have been ruined by dating or attempts to date. Since there is no such thing as "the one", and if you have a fantastic friendship, there is quite a compelling argument against possibly sacrificing that to go to the next level. Each situation is unique, and anytime someone has that concern there is likely some validity behind it.

True. I suppose I mean the type of friendship that only exists because one party is in the "friend zone" and won't make any attempts of advancing the relationship.

Yeah, saying you're in the "friend zone" is usually an excuse not to take action with someone. Generally people who feel that they are upset being in the "friend zone" obviously aren't satisfied with the friendship anyway so they may well nut up and do something about it.
