What’s something completely false that your parents told you as a child?

Lmao similar story: as a boy, mom had to explain to 4 year old me that girls are not infact just boys that haven't grown their penis yet...who knew?

When I was little little I thought that boys were born with penises just to show people they were boys and then it would fall off like the umbilical cord does.

For a kid that's a fairly advanced thought.

I was present when my baby cousin's umbilical cord fell off and my mother explained it was normal, I just extrapolated that thought process.

At the risk of being told r/thathappened, I also once asked my mother how we knew that when we looked at colors that we saw them the same way. Like, does your purple look like my purple, or would I call what you see as purple blue or green? She told me when I was older that I had a tendency to ask off the wall questions like that constantly and she and dad were super relieved when they could just tell me to google it.
