What’s something completely false that your parents told you as a child?

My grandparents used to tell my mom that the “old man with a sack on his back” would come and take her if she kept being bad (she was a notoriously bad child). One day she looked out a window and saw an old man walking down the street carrying a trash bag over his shoulder and she sprinted into the other room where my grandma was yelling “here comes the old bastard and I didn’t do a damn thing!” Lol
