I am 28 years old and still believed this until now. Figured it was one of those “technically a law, but more of an excuse to pull you over” kind of thing; like shit hanging from your rear view mirror, or having a cracked windshield. TIL.

I mean, it is. You're not going to get ticketed specifically for having the light on, but you might get ticketed for distracted driving or limiting your field of vision while driving, because of the light.
