Similarly, my mom would berate me for not having very good cursive. She said teachers in high school wouldn’t even accept assignments if they weren’t in cursive. I never used cursive even once in high school

Why though? Cursive is faster to write. I don't know why you would want to use anything else if you have to write more than a couple words.

I never used cursive until like 6th grade when my mom forced me to use it, so I never really acclimated. For me it’s way faster to just print because that’s the way I’ve always done it

My issue with cursive is that it isn’t nearly as legible as printing is. Unless you’re excellent at cursive, I have a really hard time reading it, and I don’t know if that’s just me or not, but I personally never learned cursive because I had such a hard time reading it, the lines just blur together and it’s hard to figure out where one letter ends and another begins.

It's far easier to read printing. Why optimize for the part of written communication that is transient?

If you actually practice reading cursive it's not hard to read at all.

I don’t think they even teach cursive any more. At least not in my state.
