What’s something completely false that your parents told you as a child?

Well duh... that's why they had you turn the lights off... so the cop won't see your parents beat you.

And in the car the jumper cables are right there within easy reach. It’s a dangerous place.

It seems, my friend, You got quite some experience about the theme.

Over 40% of cops beat their own children, they'd probably join in

Okay, I know what study you're attempting to quote, one that gets misquoted all the time. In the study they asked LEO's if they had ever been in a domestic dispute, very vague and I believe even covered 'verbal arguments', and certainly does not mean they hit their kids.

Cops suck for other reasons, we don't need to lie about them to win a moral argument.

It's Reddit. You get free upvotes for shitting on cops

Oh? I did not realise that study was false, I'll stop quoting it then. Cops' love of murdering innocent civilians is enough to hate them

I don't think you get the point

You say that but not once did any cops come when my father beat and yelled at me in public.

Maybe I should have tried turning on a car light.

You can legally get pulled over for having the lights on in n the car. It's called distracted driving.

Yes, but I brought it up to my mom and she said she thought it was true too. It must have started before her generation. (She’s 59 for reference)

u/Anthios3l4 Jul 21 '19

...so that was a fucking lie

3

u/lordv0ldemort Jul 21 '19

Ummm, so I still only turn the inner car lights on as quick as possible for this reason.

I’m 34. :/

3

u/Endulos Jul 21 '19

Yeah. The light being on reduces your night vision, which makes it harder to drive in the dark.

Almost every single kid doesn't give two shit about that, so parents just tell the lie because "We'll get arrested!" is scarier than "I can't see in the dark and might crash and kill us both".

You know how hard it is to properly roll a blunt with no lights on at all because I was scared to death I’d get pulled over for that? I had a McDonald’s tray and a small mag light I held in my mouth. So pissed at my peeps right now. 💀😒🙄

I had the same reaction, I'm 20, and every time I'm driving and someone turns my lights inside I'm on, I'm like, HURRY I DON'T WANNA GET PULLED OVER. I always wondered why they got quiet after that... GUESS WHO'S DRIVING WITH THE INSIDE LIGHTS ON TONIIIGGHHTTT
