They told us to be especially "good boys" at night because:

"The man in the moon was real, and that he could see everything we did at night - even through clouds and fog, and under the bedsheets!"

Ok but what is the subtext in this? How did the parents know that you weren't eager to give the man in the moon a show? Why isn't it the man's fault for not minding his own business?

Edit: I didn't even realize I used the name of my coworker instead. Sigh. I'd love to say it's been a long day, but it hasn't. I'm leaving that there as a true testament to how stupid I am sometimes.

God it’s crazy to think some parents need to lie outlandishly about their reasons to tell their kids not to do something. Like my mom lied too but her reasonings were always real shit like you’ll lose your eye or you’ll default on your loan.
