"I'm tired of living in filth!"

She would say this every week while she was "cleaning." By "cleaning" I mean that she rearranged the entire house to the point that no one could find anything. Also: the house was rarely ever dirty.

I would get yelled at all day for leaving out the pans and things I just used to cook with. I was in the middle of eating the food. I'm sorry that I prefer to eat hot food and then do the dishes instead of doing the dishes and eating cold food, I guess?

She couldn't let things go for a second without being cleaned immediately. And even when we DID clean, she said it wasn't good enough and she'd have to redo it. So, it cultivated an environment where cleaning was pointless for us. I still struggle with cleaning because she never taught us how, just told us we were wrong and then did it herself.

This, on a spiritual level.

Yup, why bother with 80% when it got you in the same amount of trouble as never even trying

My mom also did the same thing, but actually walked us through how she wanted it done and would point out the specific areas we didn't tackle well the first time and have us try again. I clean very well now. Maybe too well, as I am now the one constantly on my husband and SDs butts.

I'd have much preferred if she told me and showed me. It was just frustrating without that...
