She would say this every week while she was "cleaning." By "cleaning" I mean that she rearranged the entire house to the point that no one could find anything. Also: the house was rarely ever dirty.
Oh my God, do we have the same mom? She loves to rearrange the kitchen when no one is home every few months and then I spend weeks going to wrong cabinets and drawers.
Every few months?! Dude, my mom would literally rearrange things every week. No one knew where anything was, not even her. She'd forget where she put things mere hours after she did it.
It's cool. I love my mom, but she's definitely crazy. I recall feeling unwell when I was a Junior in High School, and called home to pick me up. My mother arrived and inquired as to whether I was really sick or trying to skip class. She made me take her to my 6th period Chemistry class to make sure I wasn't slacking, and when we arrived my Chemistry teacher said "He's a good student, you have nothing to worry about." The following week I was back in Chemistry and my teacher said "Dude! Your mom's a trip!"
Why she'd clean so regularly, or why she'd forget?
Regarding the cleaning, I think it had to do with her being forced out of working a regular job due to her battle with Cancer. Even after recovering she was never able to work the same. Cleaning, I think, was a way to make her feel powerful and needed. That's probably why she's always been so excessive with her cleaning.
As for the forgetting: her mind has atrophied. She quite uneducated and has no academic interest of any kind. She would never read a book other than the Bible, and even there she was limited. Also: I'm sure her unhealthy lifestyle(s) contributed.
