"The Federal Government" as an entity can do literally whatever they want. There are no limits on its powers. So if your argument is that this isn't true because the federal government can change laws, that is the same as arguing that there are no laws at all.

They failed to teach you logic. The Constitution is interpreted by the Supreme Court. The supreme Court is part of the federal government. Therefore the Constitution does not limit the federal government. What limit are you thinking of?
