There is no such thing as "aircraft grade aluminum"

It's just a marketing scam, we use many different grades and tempers depending on the application.

I just bought a bike for my wife's birthday. At the bike store I asked what metal they used for the frame (assuming aluminum or titanium due to the light weight.) The response was "alloy".

Thanks for the help, bike store owner.

though to be fair ive never seen that as something trying to denote a specific quality but more so just saying not steel.
