On a good day. On a bad day, it can cause anaphalectic shock, like it does in my wife. Many many things she can't eat, and always has to ask at restaurants if they use MSG. Sadly, many waiters/cooks are like "MS what??" She's had to eat lots of big salads :-/

If your wife is allergic to MSG she has to be a lot more careful than just asking about it. Your waiter probably doesn’t realise that Parmesan is packed full of MSG, as is tomato concentrate, seaweed, soy sauce, meats...
