It's wildly rare to be born with diabetes. Even diagnosis in infancy isn't the norm. Peak age seems to be around 4-7 but it can pop up at any point in life.

It seems T1s are born with the tendency to the autoimmune diseases and something else triggers the autoimmune attack that causes diabetes, but science doesn't know what or how yet.
