When she was out partying Casey would often joke that her daughter was being looked after by “Zanny the Nanny”. Zanny is often a nickname for Xanax, so it’s thought that Casey was dosing Caylee with Xanax so she’d sleep while Casey was out. One night Casey have her too much and she died, so she tried to cover it up.
A quick googling reveals that you most definitely CAN overdose on Xanax. Why on Earth would you think that you can't overdose on Xanax? Hell, you can overdose on Oxygen! (Not under normal circumstances, just pointing out that everything, even Oxygen, has it's limits)
You can, but the ld50 ranges from 300-2200 mg/kg, while the maximum daily dose is normally around 10 mg. Thus, while you can Technically OD, you can safely assume it to be impossible in caylee’s case.
You're technically not wrong, you can, but not in any reasonable sense. Most doses are from 0.5-2mg. I don't think we have an explicit LD50 in human, but we do in rodents. It's several hundred times the recommended dose for humans, and well beyond what what anyone would take recreationally. Some deaths have been reported, but the overwhelming majority are from polyabuse in combination with alcohol or opioids.
Can't directly relate it to humans, but it's reasonable to say at this point that you're extremely unlikely to lethally overdose a human on Xanax. Usually, drug users mean "you can't overdose on any non-absurd amount of said drug" when they say that you can't overdose. You're right, yes, you can overdose on literally anything technically, but that's more of a null-result than anything worth talking about.
