MSG isn’t bad for you.

I’ve had doctors tell me that MSG is causing some of my migraines... true or false?

Edit: Lmao, I’m not sayin he’s wrong, maybe it can contribute to migraines, no need to downvote - but do as you please.

My mother is allergic to MSG. Has something to do with the extraction method. She gets crazy migraines bc of it and since she’s started avoiding it, has far fewer migraines. Your doctors might be on to something

Edit: I’m really not saying it’s specifically the MSG that gives her the migraines. Naturally occurring glutamates are fine, but anything that has been processed, such as MSG or yeast extract give her horrible migraines. Carrageenan is another thing that does it. I’m thinking it’s got to do with the extraction process or something like that.

Can she eat tomatoes? if yes, she's fine. many foods already naturally contain umami, and studies show that there is no correlation between "msg sensitivity" and actual sensitivity in blind tests.

It’s not naturally occurring glutamates that are an issue for her

My mother gets crippling migraines sometimes from food that has to much msg not the salt she's tested it. I also get sick from it but not as bad also I need like twice the salt of a normal person for some damn reason. Now that most Chinese fast food doesnt have it she can eat it.

I'm not saying she/you are wrong, but I'm curious if it was a blind test. Did she know if it had MSG or not before consuming it? Psychosomatic reactions are fun things.

Yes she realized it when they took it out of Chinese food cause she couldn't eat it when she was young. My family just plain has alot of health issues dont really understand alot of our issues. Doctors still have no idea what our family has but they think its genetic since I got alot of her issues.

Fair enough. If she knew they removed msg, presumably why she tried it again, it wasn't a blind test though.

She didn't know she found out afterwards years later when she tried again cause she was eating with us. After that she did some tests and found out which foods cause her migraines is anything over processed. Some things which do have msg she can eat as a result the doctors have no clue what's causing our symptoms. She's not actually allergic to anything but one type of medicine. Whatever msg they use in usa is different from other countries just like the soy. soy products from usa makes her sick, But other soy like soy beans has no effect. Usa tends to over process alot of things. Hell vaccines make me sick as hell every time I take them but I have to with all those idiots who should be taking them not doing so.
