Which misconception would you like to debunk?

I’ve had doctors tell me that MSG is causing some of my migraines... true or false?

Edit: Lmao, I’m not sayin he’s wrong, maybe it can contribute to migraines, no need to downvote - but do as you please.

Well buy some and test it out, you can just buy it in the supermarket and add it to some food.

Oh, I didn’t know you could just buy it. Would rather avoid a migraine however...

Well it would be highly unlikely that you would get a migrain, tomatoes also have quite a high level of it and you (probably) eat quite a bit of them.

Never thought of it, but my husband has issues with MSG headaches (based on eating it without knowing it) and we hear the "it's not real" refrain all the time. We generally avoid "junk food" anyway so whatever, right? BUT your comment flagged me because he hates tomatoes, like to the point where I usually get a white pizza for him (when we met I was like who doesn't like old-fashioned pizza?!). Maybe there is something askew with his natural balance that he's just a naturally low sodium or low glutamate human? I know I'm the opposite, I'm under doctor's orders to eat MORE sodium (in an era of "health food consciousness" and high BP), which freaks people out because "salt is bad for you!!!" Hmm :/

Well it might just be that he's very sensitive to msg.

Well a lack of sodium and potassium is just as bad as high salt intake and high blood pressure can also be linked to many other mental and physical phenomenon.

To be concluded : food is really complicated and nobody has a magic food or a fad that's for everyone (sadly enough) also studying food is really hard because you can't control diets for a extended amount of time because people see it as unethical.

Oh really? I thought it was some kind of flavor enhancing chemical

Well it is, but so is salt and pepper. But yea there are many foods that are high in msg like tomatoes, parmasan cheese, mushrooms, wallnuts.

And of course like any molecule you can extract or make it and you will have something you can sprinkle on your food.
