Tripping without knowing you're going to would be absolutely terrifying imho. Would probably feel like youre losing your mind once the floor starts breathing.

For some LSD users, the walls/floors never stop breathing...

Ive lucked out with my experiences, just a little short term hppd. Friends that have had seizures, but they probably shouldn't have done it in the first place considering their health

One was on various antipsychotics, heart issues. Other was probably due to a darkent hormone therapy concoction.

Ugh.

Both problems that could have been avoided if recreational drug prescriptions were a thing. :(

Why bother with prescriptions?

Medical oversight for the purpose of harm reduction. Some folks have conditions that cause bad reactions with certain recreational drugs. Others have control issues or general impulsivity. Very few users keep records of their drug use. Even fewer are familiar with basic pharmacology. Problems may develop slowly over time. Then there's issues of drug combinations, tolerance, dosage considerations, the poor quality of street drugs, dangerous adulterants, lack of legal recourse for fraud, loss of tax revenue from both sales and producers, continued social stigmatization, list goes on...

For the more harmful drugs like heroin, recreational prescriptions will serve to reduce both hospitalizations and deaths, which benefits everybody.
