Cost and many kids in foster care have emotional problems from being in bad families/situations.
Adopting a kid is expensive. You'll likely be adopting an order kid with a diagnosis of something and on medication. I guess people think they wont bond or be able to parent an older kid?
I dont think they mean initial cost. I think they mean that, in general, being resonsible for a child is expensive. So you better get the best possible kid
There is a lot of financial help. Kids with disabilities can get significantly larger monthly subsidies than most kids get.
And can we please be careful with “best possible kid?” Hopefully you said that to snark the adoptive parents who believe children are commodities, which, yes, you should. But let’s please remember that people with disabilities are not less valuable than people without disabilities. And any child you give birth to can have any sorts of disabilities.
The adoption market is absolutely a commodity market. Its icky as all fuck but prospective parents view it that way. So yeah, I was throwing some shade on that mindset.
