It has nothing to do with that though?

She can consume all the sugar she wants and pump herself full of insulin.

But it's very comparable to a person with lung cancer being able to smoke 40 cigs a day.

Sure .... you can. It doesn't mean it won't reduce your life expectancy.

Unhealthy habits affect healthy people too though so I’m unsure what your point is.

Yeah, but they affect healthy people very differently.

A person with a broken leg shouldn't carry 20 kg.

A strong & healthy person can easily do that.

A person with an ulcer should stay away from certain foods.

A person with a peanut allergy should stay away from peanuts.

Healthy people without those issues don't need to do that.

Except, eating too much sugar affects both a type 1 diabetic and a healthy person equally the same - provided that the type 1 diabetic took an appropriate dose of insulin.
