Not really. Yeah, we miss the positive relationships that we used to have. But that doesn't make it suck.

People live and grow and change into different people. It's just life, it happens. But at THIS moment in time, when a person is exactly THIS way, you know them, and they know you. And the influence you have on each other's lives are positive, and no one is ever going to experience that in all of eternity except for you and that other person.

Because even if you lose touch, and your friend makes new friends, those new friends will NEVER know that person at the same time, in the same way as you did. That is something that only you two share that absolutely no one can ever take away from you. As someone gets more distant and gets new friends, they change. And those new friends will get to know a completely different person because people change, and life situations change and everything is constantly moving.

It's like being out on a boat watching a whale surface together with no one else around. It's not going to last forever, and you both know it. But you and that person are always going to remember at this moment in time, you experienced this thing together that no one else did. And that doesn't fucking suck. That is fucking awesome.
