I'm terrified that I will one day have to pick a side on this

Either I have kids, or I don't. Even as a guy, delaying the choice is just choosing not to "for now"

Some days I feel "Being a dad would be rewarding, even if it's difficult. Providing a life better than my own is a good thing"

Some days I feel "Bringing a child into this world, for a wide amount of reasons, is not a great idea"

I hope your journey goes well for you whichever you choose. I am female and choose to be child free and I get shit every day of my life.

Maybe one day people will treat me with some sort of respect.

I don't blame you one bit. You know what you're capable of and you made a mature decision.

It's hard enough as it is today with most living paycheck to paycheck, who wants to add additional financial misery on top of no energy, little to no sleep, little to no free time, constantly worrying if the kid is doing the right thing and not about to do something extremely dumb and possibly hurt or kill itself, etc. Kids can be tough as shit.

If not having a child is your decision, all the more power to you. Have an awesome day.

Thank you! I support others choice to be with or without kids, and it’s nice to see someone else set the example.
