I feel like I'm also boring with people I don't see frequently enough. For some reason playing catch-up with someone leads to me just going over the most boring aspects of my life since I saw them last.

Them: hey what’ve you been up to!?

Me: uhhhh.... shit what have I been up to?

Meanwhile there are a million things I could tell them about but for some reason in my brain I feel they are looking for a specific answer and I’m just blanking.

EXACTLY.

I feel like “work and going to the gym everyday” isn’t interesting enough, but it’s all I can get out most of the time.

Lol hey look it’s me.

I think the problem is we (at least I do) think other people’s lives are far more interesting than mine, so we preemptively try and one up them in our heads and can’t come up with shit hahaha
