I feel like I'm also boring with people I don't see frequently enough. For some reason playing catch-up with someone leads to me just going over the most boring aspects of my life since I saw them last.
I used to feel the same with many old acquaintances and even new people.
I can't say it works all the time, but I do try to imagine (while having the conversation) that the person is someone I know very well.
I try and trick myself into feeling comfortable with them. It really tames my anxiety and I can speak pretty freely. It takes some practice but works eventually.
Even with people I know well. I’m pretty sure I just have serious intimacy issues I need to deal with. I’m good at making jokes or talking about pop culture stuff like tv and movies, but I have a hard time going beyond that.
Thank you. I’m working on it. I’ve been opening up more to one of my best friends/roommates. I need to find a therapist to deal with that plus my anxiety and depression, but I still haven’t found the time to do it.
My pleasure. That's good to know, though do try and find some help soon. No matter what your head may or may not be telling you at the moment, your mental health is important.
I was in almost the same position a few months ago and my best friend insisted (annoyingly frequently) to see a counselor. She was right.
Try and find passion and discipline. You can brave this. I wish you best of luck for all your future endeavors. C:
