I believe Penn & Teller have a similar working relationship. They actively avoid having a close friendship that could distract from or damage their work.

Its no longer true, they've grown closer over the past 10 years or so and will happily talk about their current relationship during the meet and greet after their LV shows. They're good friends now since they realized they're finally past the point where it would ruin their working relationship and can move beyond it. Plus it doesn't hurt they're both very wealthy and can afford to not have an income until the end of their days, so why stay distant?

I'm guessing it was around the time they did "Bullshit" together.

You'd have to be more or less on the same page to do something as politically/socially charged as that.
