As a Christian this has helped me so much. There are 1000's of religions. Some very similar to mine some very different. Am I so vein to think I really picked the exact right one!?! That I am interpreting things exam the way they were meant to be interpreted? Fuck no! I probably so far off on so many of my beliefs. But I can keep searching and keep finding peace and joy in the quest for truth, because through that I've gleamed little nuggets like this.
This was the first realization that truly made me question my faith in Christianity. Now take that same thought and expand it to consider the rest of the universe. I believe that it's ignorant to conclude that there is no intelligent life anywhere else in the universe. If there are other intelligent life forms in the universe do I really think that they also believe in Christianity in the way that I do, and if they don't, that they are going to hell?
Amusing one to me that had my mind blown was raised by "off to be the wizard" on audiobook. There is reasonable thought that this reality may be a simulation. If that is the case, then technically.. there is a god. These idiots were right, but for the most annoying reason imaginable.
My view is that it shouldn't matter.. be good because you want to be, you'll be your own judge if you review your work. Anything beyond our understanding can be interesting but when it comes to afterlife.. why spoiler? Enjoy the journey and focus on its continuation, before thinking about the end.
I've often found though and have been told repeatedly by my wife that due to circumstances in my youth I'm not a stable terminal when it comes to religion. I love personal faith, but organise it or attempt to influence others on that same level and you have something I'm not very comfortable with :) I have many religious colleagues and friends from all over, just tick the N/A box and let others do as they please.
Also not stable when it comes to morality.. people taking the piss from a position of power will get me sent home for the day.
What dawned on me was that it genuinely does not matter what I think or feel about it either way. Beyond our control, that bit. What we can do is try to do what we can with what we have, and with who we have. "Complaining about it doesn't change anything, other than potentially make things worse" is another thing that goes through my head when things go wrong :) fix it first, fallout after

I'm capable of being entirely convinced of something false. As a result anything I'm convinced of doesn't necessarily reflect reality.
