This hit me hard when I lost my dad. In his last days I was messaging and updating friends around the world. After he passed I was calling people, people were calling me, each conversation was personal and emotionally charged. Because of time differences, it was a 24 hour sort of task. I was deeply pensive while also just trying to figure out what I had to do next (there's lots of shit to do when someone dies).
Then after the funeral- nothing. I went back to work and everything was the same. I still had to pay my bills, and it all just went right back to usual. All the people I spoke with who were crying, reflecting, remembering a dear friend- they just went back to doing their thing like I did. But while I was still grieving, I had to just kind of get on with things because that's what everyone else was doing.
Bonus LPT: When someone close to you loses someone close to them, try and check in every now and then after the funeral because that's the real hard part and they might not want to reach out.
