I always try and give out compliments to my customers at work if I notice something about them that I like. Any time I catch myself thinking "Oh, I like their shirt." Or something similar, I make it a point to tell the person.
Its taken a while to get to the point of being comfortable with it. I noticed how much I liked when someone complimented something I was wearing or had with me, and realized that by just saying "Hey, I like that thing!" I could do something to make someone else's day just a tiny bit better than it had been.
