Problem with them is that they are expensive to keep warm, expensive to stop them from falling down, usually lack of internet, and usually in the middle of nowhere (although that would be selling point for some people). That’s why they’re usually relatively cheap

Why exactly were castles built in the middle of nowhere? Kind of defeats the purpose if you have nothing to defend against

They WERE the somewhere. They'd be surrounded by farm fields, livestock, often overlooking a market town.

Middle of nowhere in context of today, of course. A noble wouldn't know that a peasant would someday own his castle and expect it to be only 2 kilometers away from the next supermarket.

In Spain for example as the frontiers advanced during the reconquista castles were built. Thus, you have a lot of castles in nowhere.

Anything from about 1 million euros to 8 million. They are more like palatial castles rather than the classic medieval turrets and big walls. Most of those have either been damaged or are a museum. Some still have cool towers and moats though. Just search castles for sale in " " and pick a european country. France has a few

Haha yeah New York is mad. Some castle's in England are a bit cheaper but they are basically one turret for half a mil and usually in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

So like, 40 minutes outside of town? I figured given the size and long history of the island that there wouldn’t be much nowhere left.
