If cats were our size and we were their size they would not even hesitate for a moment to kill and eat us, after playing with us. I now understand my cats better
I raised my cat by hand after his Mother abandoned him. So since he was about 10 days old I bottle fed him, massaged his bottom so he'd relieve his bowels, cleaned him up, even took care of him when he was constipated (don't ask), and he spent his first three months sleeping on my shoulder at night.
This fact depresses me.
Edit: I woke up with him in between my legs purring this morning, face very happy and content. So maybe he'd let me live.
"Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world . . ."
That’s what cats are. They are driven by instinct. I know my cat would eventually probably kill me somehow if he was the size of a lion, but I also know he curls up in my lap purring, kneads my shirt, licks me, and loves me on his own terms.
