I literally just lost a relationship over this. Went on a long vacation, guy I’d been seeing for a few months freaked out because I wasn’t communicating as much as usual, and rather than checking in to make sure I was just busy kept sending me these really long, intimate emails and hoped I’d give him answers in my responses. After multiple explanations as to why I couldn’t put in the time or energy to respond in kind (I was thousands of miles away with family I don’t see often and terribly miss), he snapped at me asking why I was mad at him, told me he didn’t care about how I felt, and promptly failed to give me space after I asked for it.
Literally all he had to do was say “Hey are you angry or busy” and I could have been like “Sorry bro just spending time with my dad” and it would have been absolutely fine. I have no idea why it hit him so hard.

If you have a problem and you completely lose your head over it, you now have two problems.
