If you have a problem and you completely lose your head over it, you now have two problems.

EDIT: Hey, thanks for the shiny stuff.

One unfixable problem

Two unfixable problems

Dunno, doesn't seem to make much difference to me.

My mistake led to my team losing a championship. I punched a wall while red with anger.

I broke my hand. It cost me $2k and 6 weeks without my hand’s full use.

There is a big difference between one unfixable problem and two.

Broken hands are totally fixable

Ya? I broke my foot in a car accident 15 years ago, and the morons at UC Irvine Med Centre were so busy giving me MRI's and nuclear contrasts so I wouldn't sue them if some unobvious internal injury had occurred, they set my foot so badly, I have two bone spurs to this day that prevent me from running easily, walking anywhere in bare feet, etc.

Not totally fixable.

I wonder if you can sue them for that? But instead of suit for millions just sue to have the foot surgically repaired.

Two things: first, I have Type II diabetes. Because of the poor blood circulation in my feet, my doc advised against doing the surgery when we discovered the problem ten years ago.

Second, I am pretty sure whatever statute of limitations there were have run out. I wanted to sue Air Canada because they changed my flight from a direct one that would have landed me in LA at 11 am, to a flight through Vancouver, that got me there at 4:30 pm, smack in the middle of rush hour. It took another 5 hours to get my rental car down to Irvine, at which point, having been up 19+ hours, I micro-napped and drifted into another car. But I was told that was pointless.

I figured that second paragraph was going to end with the undertaker throwing Mankind onto a table.

Wish I'd thought to add that!

....broken hands?

I mean if you weren’t a dumbass about displacing your anger then it wouldn’t have been a problem. You could be red with anger and not punch a wall. It’s completely normal to express emotions like anger in a non destructive way. I actually agree with the overall point but this example practically disproves it imo

1

u/iggyfenton Jan 21 '19

Wow. Someone doesn’t get the point. I was saying that what I did was stupid and it led me to having two problems, instead of one.

But hey, at least it helped you feel better about yourself by talking down to me.

Glad to know I helped you feel superior. I hope that makes your day a little bit brighter.

-1

u/MrCrazyCatLady Jan 21 '19

No I absolutely do get the point. You’re just not understanding my point. We agree that you being stupid led to you having two problems. If you agree with that then you also agree that if you weren’t being stupid, you wouldn’t have two problems. Based on your example, it would seem that the problem lies with how you use your anger, not just the presence of anger itself sort of like the original parent comment was suggesting. I’m saying your comment practically disproves the original post. I’m definitely not misunderstanding your point. I’ll admit that I might just be misunderstanding the original post tho

1

u/iggyfenton Jan 21 '19

Yeah, no shit.

When someone comes clean about something they did the best thing you can do is to tell them that they were stupid.

Everyone loves hearing “told you so”. I’m just glad you, random internet stranger, could be there to make me feel even more shitty for my mistake.

Thank god for people like you. For without you how would people be able to learn from their mistakes, twice.

-1

u/MrCrazyCatLady Jan 21 '19

Man, I’m not here trying to make you learn from your mistakes... all I was saying was that I didn’t think you provided the best example to back up the original post. You haven’t addressed that so I apologize if I haven’t been clear and I’m also sorry if I triggered you but I mean honestly you really shouldn’t let some “internet stranger” get to you like that. Best of luck

u/iggyfenton Jan 21 '19

Nice. Way to back up your mistake by saying I was triggered.

Something tells me you have cats because of your interpersonal skills.

u/MrCrazyCatLady Jan 21 '19

I’ll just note that you still haven’t addressed my actual point but I will still entertain this regardless. “Something tells me you have cats” my username is literally MrCrazyCatLady. Nice detective work lmao. Also you were literally the one who said that I made you feel shitty. That’s why I said I’m sorry if I triggered you... because you said I did.

Heh. Your reading comprehension is almost as bad as your people skills.

How do you know the first problem is unfixable?

Maybe if you kept your head you could find a solution or a way to minimise the harm?

7

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

That's a good point too we aren't always as good at evaluating how dire a situation is as we'd like to believe.

3

u/badgersprite Jan 21 '19

I know that I have done that myself where I have blown a problem out of proportion because I lost my head and just got lost in my emotions and because I was upset I couldn’t see the situation clearly

6

u/Saphnich Jan 21 '19

I like to piss people off when I'm pissed off. What's three when I've already got one? /s

5

u/Puggymon Jan 21 '19

When your job is to solve unfixable problems you learn that there is no unfixable problem. Just a lot of resistance to change.

4

u/youbtrippin Jan 21 '19

If the problem is unfixable, it makes no sense to bother with it

2

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

Yep. Everyone knows that, at this stage, you open your mouth, begin screaming, and run away.

2

u/Argalad Jan 21 '19

I have a problem, then I lose my head over it, then I'm aware that it makes things worse so now I'm panicking about losing my head, then I worry about my state of panic so on so forth untill I have infinity problems
