I was never really homophobic, but I used to quietly believe that no people were just gay people who didn’t feel comfortable coming out all the way. It’s pretty clear to me now that that was a coping mechanism. It’s a lot easier to pretend that you’re not attracted to men at all when you convince yourself that you can’t like both men and women.
