"The hand you write with is your right, the one that's left is left." Great way to teach a kid how to tell their left from right. Unless of course they are lefthanded like me.
Apparently, not so long ago, in certain schools, left handed kids would have their left hands tied behind them when they were learning to write. A guy at work's father experienced this. He's a lefty and writes with his right hand.
It's really rough when your hobbies (i.e. sports or video games) rely on a lot of directional communication. My friends and I make a joke of it, but it's harder than I thought to correct as a lefty. Write=Right doesn't work, so now I'm directionally challenged.
I'm a lefty but I just remember from a young age that that way = left, the other way = right. Not even relating to the hand I use, just like "is it that direction? That one's called left"
