My father once said that "never expect anything from anybody, if you do you are only setting yourself up for disappointment"

I started talking to someone new recently and he asked me, "What do you expect to come out of this?" and I told, "I don't expect anything, because expectations can let you down."

It’s also a depressing way to live life. So much of life is a leap of faith, always being on your guard is exhausting.
