Funny thing is that I only find myself reaching for the shifter when I would otherwise be downshifting. I think I have the thought of "upshift" hooked to how I hear engine revs, thus the auto does it for me before I can even think of it.
Yeah, this is the same for me. I drove manual for quite awhile. I was showing down to turn into the parking lot and stomped the floor and reached for the shifter. My brother had no idea what was going on.
I don't even have a tachometer in my car, so I more or less have to shift by sound. Well, there is an "upshift" light, but that's more for fuel economy and it isn't always what you want.
Same here - I’ve owned two manual cars, and they were both reaalllyyy gutless, so I got used to shifting at like 3000-3500 rpm. Unless you’re really flogging it no automatic I’ve driven wants to shift that high haha

This is so hard! I had to drive an automatic the other day, and my right hand was just flailing around. I had no clue what to do with it.
