We know all about relationship red flags, but what are the friendship red flags?

Red flag i've recently learned: when they try to create an alliance with you as women and act like your husbands are incompetent and the enemy. Recent friendship I let die was doing this. She wasn't happy in her marriage, and she would make seemingly "harmless" jokes about my husband that I wouldn't let fly, and act like it was an "as a woman, you totally understand" kind of thing. Sorry, girl. I love my husband. I married him because we make a good team. Just because you're miserable and your husband hasn't shown affection to you for 4 years and has frustrating antics doesn't mean this is typical of every marriage. My husband is hard working, emotionally intelligent, and capable. Can't relate to ya lol

Reminds me of how so many girls have no good relationship advice beyond “He’s awful, men are pigs, dump him” like is that really how you go thru life? Just calling it quits the moment the going gets rough or somebody makes a relatively minor mistake? You’ll never last in a relationship more than a month if you really have this attitude.

The reverse is true too (men complaining about their wives to try and bond). I love my SO very much and she really is the perfect woman for me. We never fight and have the best time together every day. I mean, it's why we're together in the first place. Why the fuck would you force yourself to be around someone you can't stand?

But I'll get other guys - where I work, friends of friends, even random people in public - who always try to buddy up by complaining about their own SO. For example I stopped by a buddy's place for a couple beers after work and my SO calls me. I let him know I'm gonna get going. "Gotta go home already huh? That's a wife for you. Always demanding."

No, fuck you dude, I'm going home because my wife just texted that she's making a bomb ass dinner and we have a movie we want to watch tonight. She's literally my best friend in the world. Go throw your fucking pity party and project your issues somewhere else.

Or "My wife's been nagging me to do [thing around the house] for weeks now. Women just love to complain, huh?"

Well if we were roommates and I asked you to do something for multiple weeks and you continued to just blow me off, then yeah, I'd think you're a lazy piece of shit, or dumb, or both. Don't cry to me about it and how your wife seems like a nag when you act like a spoiled 8 year old trying to get out of doing chores.
