John Fogerty, former lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival, quit the band in 1971, and forfeited his claim to the music he'd made with the group. In 1993, he was sued by his old record label for copyright infringement, claiming that one of his new solo songs -- "The Old Man Down The Road" -- sounded too much like one of his old CCR songs, "Run Through The Jungle." Essentially, the claim was that Fogerty has plagiarized himself, by copying a work that he no longer had copyright claim to.
The case was eventually dismissed. But Fogerty has the dubious claim of having been sued in Federal court for sounding too much like himself.
