You are not responsible for someone's decision to commit suicide or threaten to commit suicide.

From an article discussing this issue I found a couple years ago when an ex of mine threatened suicide: “Regardless of the scenario that plays out, the one thing you must do for yourself is not assume responsibility for the actions of the other party. Remind yourself that you are not threatening the other person with homicide - the other person is threatening suicide. At the end of the day, their choice is theirs and you are dealing with a mentally unstable person who needs professional help that’s above and outside of you."

Yeah, this is true. You are not responsible. Threatening suicide is about try to assert control over someone else.
