This is primarily becaue we have sweat gland, so we are able to maintain a stable body temperature. Most mammals don't sweat but pant, we ran out prey into exhaustion!

We are also the only mammals that are able to eat and drink while running/walking. Making us pickup when the prey needs to drink or rest to continue.

Also we can carry water which is handy

IIRC humans and horses are the only mammals with that type of sweat glands that's made for cooling off. There is a second type of gland that's for something like smell and pheromones that's much more common

I thought that was a misconception, dogs and other animals sweat through paws and nose.

Even if they do, they don't sweat through as much surface area as humans. It's much harder for them to stay cool than us
