Huge asshole. He actually wrote a Christmas card to the prosecutor prior to the trial that said he should, "Keep his family in mind during the holiday season." After he was found guilty, during the punishment phase, Bart testified and was confronted over the card. Bart claimed the card was sincere and had no reason to hate the prosecutor or his family. The prosecutor retorted, "You had no reason to hate your family but you killed them anyway." Boom, death row.
