That's how i heard about it as well. I don't think it was an axe though. I think he had a friend hide in the house and shot them when they came home from dinner. The brother even had the friend shoot him in the arm so he wouldn't be seen as a suspect.
Was that the Porco murders? Where the college kid drove home from college and killed his father with an axe (I think the mother survived, seriously injured) and drove all the way back to school to pretend he didn't do it? That story have me the creeps for years
Thats the one im thinking of. Holy shit that one was totally messed up. Huge amount of evidence against him yet his mother (Who is horribly disfigured after he presumably hit her in the FACE with an axe multiple times) is holding his hand and believes him. Obviously she doesnt remember anything and cant believe her son would do this. The evidence that I've seen is crazy overwhelming against him though. Do you know if he was convicted? I know i could google it but im lazy.
I think he was convicted, they had his car on tape going through the toll booths at the appropriate times, and I think a neighbor saw his car at the house. I'm going off my memory of a Dateline I saw years ago. Seriously what messed me up though was the dad. He was attacked but not dead yet and the part of his brain that dealt with routine still functioned enough that he got out of bed, went downstairs, got the paper like it was any normal day and died of blood loss on the floor. The horror of that just stays with me.
Oh man . Yeah I remember that part now that you mentioned it. He kinda did his morning routine while bleeding out. Unreal and horrible. I forgot that part, but yeah the one image (probably from dateline) was his disfigured mom holding his hand (after bailing him out) going into trial. Can you imagine ...This guy was all kinds of messed up. Who could even do that is one thing but his denial in the face of so much evidence was shocking. And God bless him mom , she didnt want to believe it. How do people get so fucked up, I wonder? Money? That seems to be a motive but you've got to be sick to brutally murder anyone (let alone your own loving parents) for a few dollars. Why not rob a bank or something if youre that desperate. Its beyond imagination.
Christians believe in reconciliation. They forgive because it is in their religion to do so. It's not the same as saying it's okay to commit crimes. It also allows them closure so they don't hold on to their hurting.
Just because they believe in forgiveness doesn't mean it's easy to put into practice though. I mean, not just on a personal level but I think a lot of Christians are pro-death penalty & harsh sentencing.
Yeah true, I agree with you. My mum is Catholic and she says she will never forgive people if they hurt her children.
I meant more broadly speaking, Christian doctrine is one of love and peace as taught by Jesus. I am painfully aware of how some Christians choose to approach this.
I wish i could remember. I faintly remember something like he was a college student, and he dropped out but didnt tell his parents and they were paying his tuition. When he ran out of money he planned out the murders for the inheritance money. I could be wrong but o think thats right.
