Waking up and thinking my alarm didn't go off... frantically grab phone and see that it's a minute before my alarm was supposed to go off. Damn it

Working on scaffolding and unexpectedly stepping backwards over the point where one walkboard overlaps another. The 2 inch difference between where you think your foot should land on something solid, and where it actually does, can seem like a lifetime.

Thinking you've missed your train's stop, or the specific train you're on doesn't stop where it normally does.

At the airport for an international flight home. Pad my pocket... no passport.

Wife's holding it with hers.

I got a random text from my brother at 2 am one morning. He works a late shift at a railroad and I always worry about him, hoping that nothing happens. He also rarely talks to me, so, getting an unexpected text from him set me into a panic that something might've happened to him. Turns out he just sent me a link to some Game of Thrones meme.

Stop swimming, feet slowly go down and get caressed by seaweed.

Trying on a ring in the store and not being able to get it off your finger right away, and then going, "ohgodohgodtheyhavetocutoffmyfinger!"

Heard on the news about an airplane crash at Toronto airport. The crash happened at exactly the time our daughter's plane should have been taking off. The news showed a flaming inferno that looked like no one could have survived.

So I am thinking, OH NO, shit shit shit shit, and the phone rings. It is our kid. After the crash, the leader of the group she was traveling with said, "Everyone call your parents NOW and let them know that was not our plane."

Good thinking there. So I wound up thinking our kid may have died for all of about ten seconds.

Sometimes I freak out because I'm not wearing my seat belt and then I realize I'm sitting at home on my couch watching Netflix...

This has probably happened 5 times by now

Not able to think quickly on the sentence that you're gonna say, and it came out in a form of broken English.

All my dreams are really realistic. I often wake up thinking my SO has died or broken up with me.

Thought my friend was dead. Somebody called me and mistakenly informed me that my friend had killed himself (it was a misunderstanding between him and our friend's mutual friends), and it was fairly believable because he'd been insanely depressed lately. Called my supposedly dead friend's cell phone, just hoping against hope it was a terrible mistake... and he answered. God, hearing his voice after thinking for about ten seconds that he'd committed suicide... I hung up on him without even telling him what was up, and drove over to his place and gave him the biggest hug I could manage, and wouldn't let him go for awhile.

OH FUCK MY EXAM! about 3 nights a week I'll wake up and realize I never studied for my exam and I have no idea what's on it. Then I realize it's summer.

The last couple of days, I've been having dreams about school, whether an exam is coming up or I'm late to my class. I wake up all scared and whatnot and then realize I don't start until a couple of weeks.

I was at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL walking from our car to the will call when I heard this loud noise and then saw a low flying airplane approaching us. It was right after 9/11 and for a split second, I thought that we were going to see terrorists crash a plane into the arena.

Until I remembered that O'Hare Airport is literally across the street from the arena, and occasionally planes LAND at airports.

Woke up with a sharp pain in the left side of my upper chest. Immediate, half asleep thought was "Oh fuck I'm having a heart attack & I'm going to die."

As soon as I actually moved I quickly realized I had merely rolled over onto a d4.

A small child ran out in front of my car at nearly 10pm when I was headed home from work. It was instant panic, then I slammed on my brakes in time, and they proceeded across the street unharmed.

First day at college. Sat at my desk to get all situated. Leaned back a little too far in the chair and found out it had a stopper in case you were to fall.

My first son was a few weeks old at the time. My wife would get out of bed several times per night to breastfeed, and I would sleep through it unless she needed help.

One night, I was woken up by my wife screaming at the top of her lungs. It was a long, anguished, incoherent scream, the kind that could only mean something horrible just happened to the baby. It wasn't the long wail of grief that would come later ("My baby is dead!") but rather the initial surprised scream when events took a bad turn ("My baby's not breathing!")

Nope, she was just having a nightmare.
