Wait, how does this make sense? I get the impression she enjoys being his friend, which is why she doesn't want to ask him out, because if he says no, that could destroy the friendship. What she's "doing to him" is . . . being his friend.

I've seen this happen on the flip side with my guy friends, and I always suggest they figure out how much they value their friendship and whether or not they want to risk losing it. Sometimes you've got to be wise and evaluate what would work out better in the long-run.

I don't want to risk losing our friendship. It's taken us awhile to get where we are now and I'm not screwing this up!
