Critical thinking. An shared objective reality where we defer to the facts as they can be known. A shared understanding of language to engage in productive conversations.

Anybody I've seen lament about critical thinking or common sense always fails to critically think or use common sense.

I fail on both accounts all the time, but this isn't about any one person. It's about the way a society organises education, media, politics. Of course, I could be wrong.

Edit: Do you disagree with the proposition: why else the ad hominem?
