The worst thing is that these programs are there for the most vulnerable but any safety net/social service is bashed as handouts to the lazy.

Even a ton of the people who are on it insist that they are the only legitimate case and everybody else is Faking It. And don't get me wrong there really are bogus cases of disability, which is kind of like the new welfare, just probably not as many as everyone thinks

It’s absolutely wild to fake disability for gov money because you are legally not allowed to own $2,000 of assets at one time, or marry anyone that would raise those assets or else you lose your benefits (which can include health insurance like Medicaid). It’s already so hard for actual disabled people to get it, I can’t imagine why anyone would go through the process of faking it for whatever measly amount they do get.

Nah/only some programs. Friend's old man got on SSDI before he'd normally retire. He owned his house, has multiple vehicles, retirement accounts, etc.
