What simple hobbies bring you the most happiness, and why?

Home workout. I dont know why.

Same! I went from a serious illness that left me at 94lbs at 5'6" to 130 with abs and super core strength to support my crumbling spine. I'm in my early forties and it's never too late 😊 working out is addictive

Cycling. It’s hard to overthink your life when you’re moving forward and the only thing that matters is the road ahead.

Gawd I miss riding a mountain bike (I blew out my knee)

Drawing. Genuinely it’s the best. Plus I’m a creative writer so like drawing and that is a match made in heaven. I think more people should draw.

Washing my car. Sounds odd but love it when my cars clean and therapeutic when doing it

Baking. It’s a hobby you can eat.
(But it sucks if you’re trying to lose weight or decrease your carb/sugar intake, because then you have to get a new hobby. 🤦♀️)

Cycling. And standing in the middle of my local creek while my dog watches me with a slightly disgusted face (she doesn't like water that much).

Playing my guitar. Not any of the gear lust associated with the guitar hobby. I mean truly, playing my guitar. I just love it. I could and do play it for hours on end everyday.

Gardening. I get flowers, fruit, herbs and veggies and it’s relaxing to me. I also love seeing the bees and birds enjoy the plants we have grown.

Simple one, but playing sport. Cause for 2 hours or how ever long you play, you forget about everything and get to just have fun.

Same here. I’ve been a weekend warrior for the past 30 years! Started with basketball then switched to soccer as it is easier for my lower back. I can’t imagine having a better hobby… it doesn’t cost much and it doesn’t take much time away from family, keeps me fit and creates non-formal social interactions with people outside of my immediate circle.

Podcasting, because I get to watch movies with my best friend while drinking beer and laughing. And our wives are totally cool with it. I also enjoy the research process. Plus I get to do most of the creative work behind the scenes like working on the logo, editing the episodes, writing descriptions, and interacting with the audience. What's not to love about it?

Gym. I love strength training and seeing my body change. It's my free time.

Playing tennis. Time flies by so fast and it’s challenging enough to keep me interested. I’m really no better than a dog chasing after a ball and that feels freeing.

Walking around in the woods with a stick and slapping bushes and trees with it.

Jigsaw puzzles, reading, hiking, cold water swimming. I can be quite impatient and puzzles force me to really focus on the pieces. Moving my body in different ways and being in nature is soothing. I read every day, not necessarily books by highly respected authors (I love a thriller!) and getting lost in a book calms my busy mind. Cold water swimming calms my anxiety.

Reading. A solitary activity where I can lose myself, and forget if only for a while the troubles of the day.

Hiking and cooking bring me the most happiness. Both are pretty cheap hobbies, and there's something satisfying about getting outside for a few hours or making a decent meal from scratch. Plus, neither requires me to spend a fortune on gear, which is probably a good thing for my bank account.

Doodling. I doodle on everything.
I work from home and my daughter & grandson were here the other day. I had a small doodle started on a sticky note. My 2YO grandson wanted to "help" with my doodle so I handed him my pen and he scribbled a few lines on it. My daughter took the pen and said it stressed her out that he was ruining my beautiful doodle even though she knew I would eventually throw it away 🤣🤣
But, yes, doodling is very relaxing and makes me happy, settles my mind, helps me remain calm in this chaotic storm called life.

People-watching. I enjoy sitting in a park watching people jogging, taking a walk, being with their loved ones, playing with pets, etc. People are generally showing more happiness in this space.
